Styled by Art: Resort Calm, Inspired by Quiet Interlude

One of the things I love about original art is that it captures more than just a moment. It captures a feeling.

If you've been following our Styled by Art series, you know we begin with an original painting in the gallery and create an outfit inspired by its palette, mood, and personality.

This time, we styled a look inspired by Quiet Interlude by Loretta Tedeschi-Cuoco, part of our Summer Brights exhibition.

The artist describes the inspiration beautifully:

"When on vacation, I especially enjoy arriving at the pool before the venue starts buzzing with activity. Nothing beats taking the first sip of my morning coffee while dipping my feet in the cool turquoise water."

That peaceful morning feeling became the inspiration for everything we chose. Here's how we styled:

1. We started with a simple teal dress.
The dress mirrors the tranquil turquoise water that fills most of the painting. Clean lines and a simple silhouette help preserve the quiet, uncluttered feeling of the artwork.

2. Next came the ADA Leather Wrap Belt in Aqua.
Rather than introducing a bold contrast, we layered another tone of blue to create depth while keeping the palette calm and cohesive with this aqua belt.

3. We kept the jewelry beautifully understated.
Linda Trent's handcrafted Simply Circles necklace and earrings add just enough shine without competing for attention. The mixed metals feel modern while their simple circular forms echo the soft ripples of the water.

4. Then we added a pop of orange.
The orange leather clutch from Soul Carrier draws inspiration from the bright towel in the painting. It's a small detail, but one that instantly catches your eye, just as it does in the artwork.

5. We finished with the Desert Poppy Classic Silk Scarf.
Its vibrant teals and warm oranges tie the entire color story together, bringing movement and personality while staying true to the painting's palette.

The finished look feels relaxed, refined, and ready for a quiet morning at a favorite resort. Every piece was chosen to support the peaceful mood of the painting rather than overpower it.
